The Business Information Systems Support Unit (BISSU) is a team of specialists in the areas of business process, software systems design and production, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and education. BISSU provides digital services which support and complement HEIW business, often working alongside partners such as NWIS and the Local Health Board I.T. managers in order to provide solutions.
Key areas of work include hosting, maintaining and developing the Medical Appraisal Revalidation System (MARS), Matching Scheme software for medical and dental recruitment, case based support tools for the Careers and Professional Support units (INSIGHT) and LINCymru, the Leadership Fellows website.
In addition, BISSU offers advice and guidance on software delivery and provides a governance wrap to ensure software systems are created and maintained in accordance with industry standard best practice. All BISSU systems are subject to formal change management via change boards.
On a wider basis, BISSU liaises with the Department of Health (DOH) and E-Learning for Healthcare, and maintains close links with the wider NHS. Through its contacts with the Welsh Government and Academi Wales, BISSU contributes to government strategy for Technology Enhanced Learning related to medicine.
